The short answer: a finger-prick Omega-3 Index test costs about £38–£50 in the UK, an omega-3 and omega-6 panel £70–£99, and broad health panels that include an omega ratio £150–£400. Here's where the differences come from, and the costs that aren't on the headline price.

Costs that aren't in the headline price
- Nurse or clinic blood draw: venous tests often add £35 (clinic) to £59 (home nurse). Finger-prick omega-3 tests don't need one.
- Return postage: check whether the return envelope is prepaid.
- Doctor's comments: some providers include them, some charge extra.
- The retest: most people retest after three months to see if a change worked, so the real cost is often two tests.
Results time matters too
Turnaround from the lab receiving your sample varies from about 3 working days to 2–4 weeks, depending on where the sample is analysed. If you're adjusting a supplement dose, faster results mean you start the right dose sooner.

Is the cheapest test the best value?
Not always. Check what's measured (the Omega-3 Index on the 8–12% scale), the analysis method (GC-FID), the turnaround, and whether you get a personalised dose. Our guide to choosing an Omega-3 Index test in the UK goes through each.
FAQ
How much is an omega-3 blood test in the UK? About £38–£50 for a finger-prick Omega-3 Index test in October 2026; more for panels or nurse visits.
Is an omega-3 test free on the NHS? Not routinely; GPs don't usually order the Omega-3 Index.
Why are some tests £99 or more? They measure more fatty acids, include omega-6, or require a venous draw by a nurse.
Is there a first-order discount? Yes. Code OMEGA10 takes 10% off your first order (one use per customer), e.g. £49.95 becomes £44.96.
Do I need to pay for a retest? A retest after three months is recommended if you change your intake; twin packs reduce the per-test price.
An omega-3 test measures nutritional status; it doesn't diagnose or treat any condition.
